I loved this book too - I laughed and laughed. And I loved her clear-eyed, honest yet loving reflections on going home again.

It was my absolute pleasure to lend it. So glad you liked it. I wish we could have been near each other and just read it simultaneously to share in the laughter. I love the thought of you enjoying it.

Yes, I like gateways too. What this post made me think of was something slightly different, though. It's the in-between part. One of the most gripping images for me from CS Lewis's writing was the wood between the worlds in The Magician's Nephew. Imagine all those worlds just a jump away -- through whatever pool you pick. But until you actually jump, there are no demands or disappointments, just anticipation. It's like a long car trip. I almost like the riding as much as the getting out. Or a subway. Or an airport. The in-between place is restful for me, like a sabbath.

Ok. So now I am crying because a stucco house that I have never seen has holes in it and the tree is gone. Oh, my word, I think I'm going to go buy some Fantastic right now! I love hearing your memories. I would right my own like that, but if I'm crying this much at YOUR memories----mine might put me right over the edge. Hope you have a wonderful time there. So glad you get to go.

My Mother enjoyed this post, but said I should have mentioned that when she shot the rattlesnake, it was with a rifle and not a shotgun, which required excellent aim. :)

I can't wait to see your "new" office space. Maybe I can pop by on Wednesday or Friday when I have afternoons off? Hey, if I come on Friday, maybe a visit from me could make "the list." HeeHee.

And I must add to my list: Just saw that Netflix has released an iPhone application and we can finally stream Netflix movies to our phones!! Over 3G or wifi! I've been waiting for this and can't wait to try it out. And my kids will love it.
