Nan has always lived with OCD. It wasn’t a big deal. The kids turned out okay, even though she had never been the kind of mom she meant to be, the kind of mom she had never known. Things had gotten worse after the death of Nan’s mother, according to her sister, but Nan couldn’t remember any of that. And now they were trying to force her to take those pills, and Gerald would not stop pressuring her. How could he possibly understand that she needed to stay the way she was? Nan was sure she didn’t want any miracle drug, not now, not ever.
